Justice Stevens told us that we ahve to counsel about the "truly clear" consequences of a plea, and those aren't that difficult to sort out. <br /><br />I've been telling folks that they need to be aware of what aggravated felonies are, how to identify a crime involving moral turpitude (the definition is much broader in immigration law than it is in Va. to impeach a witness) and know that drug crimes are always going to have immigration consequences. I figure that if you made it through the bar exam, you can get a understanding of immigration consequences to a point where you can advise a client and when you need further help.Rob Robertsonnoreply@blogger.com
