Pirates?

Hosted by Putfile.com
What year is it?!? Miami-based Seabourn Cruise Line, a subsidiary of Carnival Corp. reported that one of their ships was attacked by pirates. The pirates fired a rocket-propelled grenade and machine guns Saturday when they attacked the luxury cruise liner. Two armed boats approached the Seabourn Spirit and fired on the ship as the pirates attempted to get onboard.
The crew initiated a trained response to avoid being boarded and the ship eventually outran the attackers.

Piracy has always existed wherever vulnerable ships have carried valuable cargos and governments have lacked the will or the power to deny land bases to the pirates.

Just wanted to add that according to the IMO, there were 330 reported pirate attacks last year alone, 30 deaths due to piracy, and 87 people wounded by pirates. 140 crew members/passengers were taken hostage of whom 43 are still unaccounted for. 9 ships were hijacked and 3 still missing. The good news, the number of reported attacks is down 22% from 2003.
