Finding Out Something Interesting

At the jail today, I found out that one of my former clients is spreading the word that "because of Lammers" he got three years on a possession charge.

Which is strange because he only got 4 months. I know - I checked to make sure once I got back to my office.

Sometimes I just don't understand . . .

It's res ipsa that the criminal defense attorney caused the defendant to pull so much time, it had nothing to do with the defendant or his/her actions.

I understand getting blamed for the time he has to pull. That sort of thing happens all the time. It's just a little weird that he inflated the amount of time he's blaming me for far above the amount he actually got.

Maybe you need to do some marketing to counter this bad rep. In my business, when one of my clients tells me I've done a good job, I say "tell all your friends" and sometimes I ask for a letter of recommendation. Maybe you can encourage your happier clients to spread the word.

You could encourage them to embellish a bit in the colorful way criminals do: "The cop pissed his pants on the stand...Ken was gonna bust a cap in the judge unless he suspended my time..." Could be fun.
