While I am not sure that the survey leads to the conclusion you draw, assuming it does, maybe one reason is that the student who doesnot finish school is told to expect to be a troubled guy ala Sweet pea the best NYC street ball player who couldn't beat the drugs and the streets to make it in college and couldn't go to the show until it was too late. Being competitive maybe the non college grads want to show us that they don't need a degree to stay out of trouble, whereas the college grad does not have the same incentive.
