There is a man in my city whose name is identical to mine and apparently has very bad credit history. I used to be confused with him repeatedly, and would have to give an affidavit that I was not him whenever I applied for a loan. That hasn't happened in several years which may be because social security numbers are more widely used now in credit checks.
What if your name was Jim Smith? There must a few thousand of those with the same date of birth.
By the way, I was at a cocktail party recently and discovered I was talking to someone born on the same day in history as I. What are the odds of that? 1 in 365? No, it can't be that easy.
